We spoke to Chantal Busek who told us that she has changed her life since being introduced to juicing, and as a single mum we have made the life of her 4 year old daughter better too.

How did you get in to juicing?

My cousin Elley mentioned juicing to me as she knew that I was trying desperately to find ways of relieving my arthritis and ditching my medication! Eliminating dairy saw some improvement but only slightly and I was convinced that diet had to be the key but was at a loss to know what to do! My specialist poo-poo’d the dietary aspect and kept trying to persuade me to up my medication. I knew that this was the last thing I wanted to do at 42. So I bought Jason’s 5lbs in 5 days along with a juicer. Firstly I was amazed at how delicious each juice tasted as I’d persuaded myself that they would be gross.

What programme did you follow?

I followed the 5lbs in 5 days as I thought 7 days would be too long and 3 days too short!

What were your results?

The results … Well, I could actually cry when I’m typing this. The weight was just a little bonus at 5lbs. On day 3 I sent Jason a pic of my knees. I hadn’t seen my knee cap for 3 years!!! I decided to ditch my anti-inflammatory painkillers on day 4 and here I am on day 6 still not needing my medication! (The side effect of which included possible liver damage, bloods monitored every 3 months, awfully sensitive teeth and tinnitus!). I am soooo over the moon.

Would you recommend juicing to anyone else?

Would I recommend juicing? Hell yes!! In fact I have converted 6 of my work colleagues to buy juicers too!! They can’t believe the results they’ve witnessed.

What was your favourite recipe?

My favourite would be Ruby Tuesday and I couldn’t bear beetroot before last week.

Juicing ingredients

  • 1/4 Pineapple (with or without the skin, depending on your juicer)
  • 2x medium Carrots
  • 1x small bulb RAW Beetroot
  • 1/2 cm Fresh Ginger Root
  • 4 sprigs with leaves Fresh Basil
  • Ice Cubes

Juicing instructions

Juice all the ingredients but make sure you sandwich the basil and ginger in between the other ingredients to ensure maximum juice extraction.
