Lemon
Juicy Trivia
Lemons were thought to have originated in India and were introduced to Italy around 200 AD. In 1493 when Christopher Columbus left Europe for the New World he took lemon seeds, other explorers and missionaries planted the seeds in Hispaniola, Florida and California, where they are still grown today. It was many years later in 1747 when James Lind, a Scottish physician developed his theory that scurvy could be cured by citrus fruits which resulted in all British ships being equipped with lemons and limes to prevent the sailors from developing the disease
